Holiday Inn Reading South

The Holiday Inn Reading South is a mid-range hotel, around a 10-minute drive south of Reading town centre, that has free parking and is served by a regular bus service into the town centre.

The Holiday Inn Reading South hotel has 202 rooms set over two floors. Hotel rooms all have comfortable beds plus a work desk, a flatscreen television, and en-suite bathroom, ironing facilities and tea and coffee making facilities. Four of the hotel’s rooms are wheelchair accessible.

The hotel Dining Zone on the ground floor operates 24 hours with a full menu from 11am to 11pm daily. It includes a bar and restaurant that serves breakfast plus an international lunch and dinner menu and there is an outdoor terrace that is a lovely spot to sit with a cold drink in the warmer months.

The hotel is well maintained with the guest rooms renovated in 2018 and the public spaces renovated in 2016.

Wi-Fi wireless costs £16 but internet access is free if you are an IGH Rewards member. Since it costs nothing to join their rewards scheme it is well worth the five minutes it takes to fill out an online form before you check into the hotel.

The Holiday Inn Reading South is around a 10-minute drive south of the town centre. Although it has easy access to the M4 motorway, it is otherwise not particularly well located. (Photo: IHG)

The hotel is not very centrally located and there is not a lot in the immediate vicinity apart from a fish and chip shop and a supermarket across the road from the hotel, although you can walk to Madejski Stadium in under 20 minutes. The hotel is 4km (2½ miles) south of the town centre but local buses run frequently into central Reading and the location is handy for motorists with easy access to the M4. The bus takes 12 minutes to get into the town centre or you could walk in a little under an hour.
