Located on the 58th floor of 22 Bishopsgate, Horizon 22 is London’s highest free observation deck offering spectacular views of London.
The 62-storey office building, also known as Twentytwo, was completed in 2020 and at 278m (912 ft), it is the tallest building in The City of London and the second-tallest building in the United Kingdom, after the Shard.
What to see at Horizon 22
Horizon 22 has floor-to-ceiling windows offering a 300º panoramic view of London. You can see most landmarks from here including the Leadenhall Building, the Gherkin, 20 Fenchurch Street, the Shard and Tower Bridge.
Horizon 22 is noted for its views of North London, which are views that you can’t always get from other viewpoints in London.
Unlike the Lookout at 8 Bishopsgate next door, you’re allowed to bring snacks up to the observation level and there’s also a cafe so you can sit down and relax with something to drink while taking in the view.
Visiting Horizon 22
Horizon 22 is at the top of 22 Bishopsgate, midway between Liverpool Street railway station and the Monument. It is only a five-minute walk from the Bank of England and only 8–9 minutes from Monument and Liverpool Street station.
Other points of interest nearby include the Lookout at 8 Bishopsgate, next door, and Leadenhall Market, the Garden at 120 and the Sky Garden, which are all a five-minute walk away.
Entry to Horizon 22 is free of charge but you need to pre-book your tickets online in advance.
When you arrive, head to the dedicated entrance at the base of 22 Bishopsgate and show the QR code ticket, which needs to be scanned before you get let in. Tickets are valid for a specific timed entry and you can’t enter before the time specified on your ticket. You also have to pass through an airport-style security checkpoint before taking the lift up to the observation deck.
Horizon 22 is fully wheelchair accessible.
