The ibis budget London Hounslow hotel is a good value place to stay within easy reach of Heathrow Airport.
The 148-room hotel has accommodation in basic rooms that have comfortable beds, a flat-screen television, a small work desk and an en suite bathroom. The hotel has double and twin rooms as well as triple rooms that are set up with a double bed with a single bunk above it.
Some of the rooms are wheelchair accessible. However, the nearby Hounslow Central tube station does not have step-free access so it is not the best part of London to stay in if you’re in a wheelchair.
Outside the rooms, the hotel amenities include a lounge area downstairs near the hotel reception that has a coffee machine and vending machines and an area where guests can sit down and relax.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Ibis budget is the cheapest and most basic of the three tiers of the ibis brand and some ibis budget hotels were previously branded as Hotel Formule 1. Hotels in the ibis budget chain follow a certain cookie-cutter approach with identical rooms within the hotel and from one hotel to another. It’s a budget hotel that does exactly what it says on the tin. There’s nothing fancy about ibis budget, but it delivers on its budget promise with rooms that are simple, clean and cheap.
Many people prefer staying in Hounslow rather than the Bath Road hotel strip closer to Heathrow Airport. The two main advantages of staying in Hounslow are that it is a proper suburban neighbourhood with real shops, real people and an authentic local character and most people find it easier to take the tube to the airport rather than hopping on a bus.
The immediate neighbourhood includes plenty of local shops, a small enclosed shopping centre and lots of reasonably-priced places to eat and drink. Although there aren’t any tourist attractions in Hounslow, it is possible to walk from the hotel to Twickenham Stadium in around half an hour.
The main bonus of the hotel’s location is its proximity to Hounslow Central tube station (on the Piccadilly line), which is only a six-minute walk from the hotel. From here you can get frequent trains to both Central London and Heathrow Airport. The airport is only three stops on the tube with the trip to Heathrow taking 11 minutes. In the other direction, it is easy to get into Central London and the journey to Piccadilly Circus takes around 40 minutes.
On-site car parking is available but it costs £6 per night.
