ibis Styles Reading Oxford Road

The ibis Styles Reading Oxford Road hotel is a modern hotel on Oxford Road around 2.4km (1½ miles) west of the town centre.

The hotel is a modern three-storey brick building that from the exterior doesn’t seem like the typical ibis Styles hotel but inside it exhibits the sort of quirky style that you find in some other ibis Styles with modern decor and a racing theme with murals of racehorses. It is much brighter with a more modern feel to Reading’s other ibis Styles hotel.

The ibis Styles Reading Oxford Road hotel has 97 guest bedrooms. Hotel rooms include a queen room, with a queen-size double bed; a duet room, with two single beds and a family room, which comprises a double bed plus a sofa bed. There are two wheelchair-accessible rooms available.

Rooms at this hotel are very nice and all come with a flat-screen television, a work desk, Wi-Fi wireless internet access, tea and coffee making facilities and en-suite bathrooms.

The hotel has its own bar and restaurant although this doesn’t get particularly good reviews from other guests. A buffet-style continental breakfast is served here and this is often included in your room rate.

The location on Oxford Road isn’t that central, although there are shops and a couple of pubs nearby and you are able to walk from here into the town centre in around half an hour. Local bus routes 15, 16 and 17 run regularly into the town centre.

The hotel has its own car park but you have to pay £5 per night to park there.

Although this hotel seems quite modern; generally, ibis Styles are older hotels that have been brought into the ALL-Accor Live Limitless family and given a makeover and often have quite a unique design. In contrast to the company’s other affordable hotel brands (like ibis and ibis Budget) that have a certain cookie-cutter feel, ibis Styles hotels can vary quite a bit from one hotel to another and some of them have a lot of character but it is often an aesthetic that doesn’t appeal to everyone. If you love one ibis Styles hotel you won’t necessarily love the next one you stay at.
