Mercure George Hotel

The 76-room hotel is comprised of single, double and twin rooms. All rooms come with flat-screen televisions, work desks, free Wi-Fi wireless internet, ironing facilities and tea and coffee making facilities and superior rooms have a larger bed, superior toiletries, a complimentary newspaper and Nespresso coffee maker. This hotel does not have air-conditioning, which may be an issue if you’re planning on staying here during summer.

Two of the rooms are equipped for guests with reduced mobility.

Because it is such an old building it can be a bit of a maze to find your way around and the room layout is inconsistent with different sized rooms throughout the hotel.

The hotel has its own restaurant, Prezzo, which serves Italian food as well as the Dickens Bar and Brasserie.

This hotel is popular with tourists and couples looking to stay somewhere with some character but it is less suitable for business travellers.

The hotel has a great location right in the centre of Reading. It is only a one-minute walk to Broad Street and the Oracle shopping centre, two minutes to the River Kennet and Reading Museum and a six-minute walk to Reading railway station.
