The Lauriston Hotel is a nice hotel by the seaside in Weston-super-Mare. It is an independently-operated hotel with lots of character and a reasonably high standard of accommodation. It is unique in catering primarily to blind and visually-impaired guests.
The 37 guest rooms all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Some wheelchair-accessible rooms are available.
The hotel has a restaurant and bar with a menu offering burgers, jacket potatoes and classic pub-style food.
The hotel is comprised of three houses that were converted into a hotel and it was opened in 1964 by Princess Alexandra. Although it is now operated by Weston College, the Lauriston Hotel was originally run by an organisation that was set up to assist blind people and the rooms and the bar at the Lauriston Hotel have been specially adapted with blind guests in mind.
The hotel is right by the seaside between two pubs, The Old Thatched Cottage and a Wetherspoons, which also offers accommodation.
Most points of interest in the town centre are no more than a 10-minute walk from here. It is a three-minute walk to the Winter Gardens, a five-minute walk to the Grand Pier, an eight-minute walk to the Weston Museum and a nine-minute walk to the Lambretta Museum. The railway station is a 15-minute walk away.
