Premier Inn Bristol City Centre (Haymarket)

The Premier Inn Bristol City Centre (Haymarket) hotel is a good value accommodation option that is very close to Bristol’s main bus and coach station.

The hotel is housed inside Avon House, an 18-storey office building built in the early 1970s that was formerly home to the Avon county council. After Avon was disbanded, it was used as excess office space for Bristol city council and then the building was left vacant for a while before being converted into a hotel. Although the hotel is not particularly attractive from the outside, it offers a good standard of accommodation for the price.

Rooms at the Premier Inn Bristol City Centre (Haymarket) hotel feature a king-size Hypnos bed and a comfortable chair (twin rooms have a double bed and a chaise longue/sofa bed), a writing desk, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. The bathroom has a bathtub with a showerhead above it rather than a proper walk-in shower. There are nice views from rooms on the higher floors.

This hotel has a mix of double, twin and family rooms. Some wheelchair-accessible rooms are also available.

All rooms have free Wi-Fi wireless internet access (up to 1GB per day).

The hotel also features a Beefeater restaurant, which has a menu comprised of traditional pub-style fare. The hotel restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner.

It is well located if you’re travelling by bus or coach. It is right next to Bristol Bus & Coach Station and the Megabus coach stop is around a five-minute walk from the hotel.

It is less than a five-minute walk to the city’s main shopping area, although some routes into the centre involve walking through graffiti-covered underpasses.

Although the hotel is well suited if you’re travelling by coach and it is just a short walk to most parts of the city centre, it is not the most attractive location and it is farther from the main tourist sites when compared with other hotels in Bristol.

The city centre location means that it’s not really suited if you’re driving, particularly as there is no on-site parking and nearby car parks can be pricey.

Premier Inn is the largest hotel chain in the United Kingdom and it usually scores very high on customer surveys when compared to other UK hotel chains. It operates at the budget end of the market and provides a reasonably high standard of accommodation for the price, and is comparable to ibis and Travelodge hotels.
