Qudos is a small hotel in a Victorian-era building that has been recently renovated while still retaining the period building’s charm.
It is a small hotel with only 12 guest rooms. All rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. The hotel doesn’t have a lift, which may be an issue if you get exhausted climbing stairs.
An excellent full English breakfast is available downstairs (for an additional £7.95) and many people say that this is the highlight of their stay.
Like many of Salisbury’s smaller hotels, the adjoining bar and restaurant comprise a large aspect of the business and rooms located directly above the bar can be noisy if you’re a light sleeper. This is particularly the case on a Friday or Saturday night when there is live music downstairs.
The restaurant has a pub-style menu with casual options like burgers, fish and chips, steaks and nachos plus a Sunday carvery. However, the hotel bar seems a little too modern for the 19th-century building and it lacks the atmosphere of many traditional pubs nearby.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is located at the northern end of Salisbury’s city centre and there are plenty of options for shopping, eating and drinking within a short walk. Salisbury Cathedral and most points of interest inside the cathedral close are around a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The National Express coach stop is a four-minute walk from the hotel and the railway station is around a 10-minute walk away. The hotel does not have any on-site car parking and the closest reasonably-priced public car park is around 150m (490 ft) away.
