The Queensberry Hotel

The Queensberry Hotel is an elegant independent hotel just a short walk north of Bath’s city centre.

The hotel comprises a row of Georgian townhouses, which was formerly home to the 8th Marquess of Queensberry. It is a great place to stay if you would like to stay somewhere with loads of charm but still want the high standard of accommodation that you would expect from a four-star hotel.

The Queensberry is a small hotel with 29 guest rooms including three suites. All rooms have comfortable beds, a flatscreen television, a DAB digital radio (tuned to Classic FM) and an en suite bathroom with a bathtub and bathrobes. Rooms do not have tea and coffee making facilities but guests can help themselves to free tea and coffee in the hotel’s drawing room.

The interior decor is more quirky than you would expect from looking at the hotel’s exterior, although it is not quite as offbeat as the Hotel Indigo. Like a proper boutique hotel, the rooms are individually decorated and no two rooms look the same.

Considering that it is such a small hotel, there are quite good public facilities including a drawing room, a bar and a restaurant. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, it is well worth visiting for a drink at the bar or a meal in the hotel’s excellent restaurant.

The Old Q Bar is quintessentially British with an atmosphere that is definitely more clubby than pubby. It is a sophisticated spot for a drink with an expertly curated spirit list and bar snacks prepared in a Michelin-starred kitchen.

Olive Tree is the hotel’s restaurant, which features an innovative modern British cuisine with a choice of tasting menus and a prix fixe Friday to Sunday lunch menu. It is Bath’s only Michelin-starred restaurant and it is well worth booking ahead for.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The Queensberry Hotel is on a quiet street at the northern end of the city centre, close to the Circus, the Bath Assembly Rooms, the Fashion Museum and the Museum of Bath at Work, which are all within a two-minute walk from the hotel. Most other points of interest in Bath are no more than a 10-minute walk away.

Valet parking is available for £15 per day.
