Sleep Eat Love

Sleep Eat Love is an upmarket backpackers hostel with nice amenities and a friendly atmosphere. It is located inside the former Liverpool Central Fire Station, which was built in 1897.

The hostel has a modern decor with lots of plywood and a pastel colour scheme. Although plywood can sometimes feel a little cheap, this isn’t the case here and the hostel’s owners have created a modern, yet welcoming, space that is a lot nicer than many other hostels.

Communal facilities include a big kitchen and areas with a pool table and computers where you can access the internet if you don’t travel with your own computer or iPad. There is also a bar and a restaurant on the ground floor.

Some people complain of rooms with no windows and minimal ventilation, although not all rooms are like this.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hostel although the Wi-Fi signal isn’t always that reliable inside some rooms.

It is a bit pricier than some other hostels but it is a step above the average (and a lot cheaper than most hotels).

Sleep Eat Love is on Hatton Garden near the more upmarket Richmond Apart-Hotel. It is immediately north of the city centre and there are plenty of places to eat and drink within a short walk of the hostel and the heart of the city centre is no more than a five-minute walk away.

There are plenty of points of interest nearby including the cluster of attractions near Liverpool Lime Street station including St George’s Hall, the Central Library, the Walker Art Gallery and the World Museum, which are all around a six-minute walk from the hotel. It is around an eight-minute walk to Mathew Street (where you can find the Cavern Club and the Magical Beatles Museum) and it is a nine-minute walk to the Western Approaches Museum. The Liverpool waterfront (where you will find the Royal Liver Building, the British Music Experience, the Pier Head ferry terminal and the Museum of Liverpool) is a 15-minute walk and the attractions at Albert Dock (the Beatles Story, Merseyside Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool) are a 20-minute walk from the hotel.

At only a six-minute walk away, Moorfields is the closest station to the hotel, although Liverpool Lime Street railway station is only a few minutes farther away.
