YHA Liverpool Albert Dock

YHA Liverpool Albert Dock is a purpose-built youth hostel south of the city centre within easy walking distance to Albert Dock. It is one of Liverpool’s longest established hostels yet is modern and well maintained.

The hostel is comprised of 32 rooms with a total of 160 beds. The largest dormitories have eight beds although most of the rooms are six-bed dorms. The beds all have individual bedside lights and power points. Most of the rooms have en suite bathrooms with the exception of two eight-bed dorms where guests have use of a shared bathroom down the corridor. Two of the four-bed dorms on the ground floor are wheelchair accessible.

Common areas at this hostel include a TV lounge, a basic kitchen (there’s no oven so you can’t cook a roast dinner). There is also an on-site bar and cafe.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hostel’s common areas.

Like a lot of accommodation options in Liverpool, the city’s Beatles connection is highlighted in the hostel’s decor. The decor also features YHA’s trademark bright green colour scheme, although this is a little muted compared with some of YHA’s other hostels and for the most part, this is limited to the bedding in the rooms.

The hostel is located south of the city centre and it is just a short walk to the attractions in the Albert Dock area. All the main sights in Albert Dock (including the Beatles Story, Merseyside Maritime Museum, Tate Liverpool, the Wheel of Liverpool plus the M&S Bank Arena and Exhibition Centre Liverpool) are less than a 10-minute walk from the hostel. The Liverpool waterfront (which includes the Museum of Liverpool, the Royal Liver Building and the British Music Experience) is around a 15-minute walk.

It is only a 10-minute walk into the heart of the city centre and a 15-minute walk to Mathew Street (where you can find the Cavern Club and the Magical Beatles Museum), however, the cluster of attractions at the northern end of the city (which includes St George’s Hall, the Central Library, the Walker Art Gallery and the World Museum) is a 20-minute walk from the hostel.

The Albert Dock YHA is around an 18-minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street railway station, however, the hostel is better located if you’re travelling by coach (the Liverpool One Bus Station is only a seven-minute walk from the hostel). The hostel has a free on-site car park but it is limited to 20 car parking spaces.
