Stock Exchange Hotel

The Stock Exchange Hotel is a luxury hotel housed inside Manchester’s former stock exchange.

It is a Grade II listed building that was built between 1904 and 1906 in the Edwardian Baroque style and it operated as a stock exchange until 2000 and it was bought by Manchester United footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs in 2013 to be converted into a luxury hotel.

It is a grand five-storey building with three restaurants and architectural features including columns, colonnaded windows and a grand hall with a domed ceiling. Despite all this space, there are only 40 guest rooms and suites at the hotel.

All rooms feature comfortable king-size beds, a work desk, a flat screen television with a Sky Sports package, tea and coffee making facilities including a Nespresso coffee machine and en suite bathroom facilities with a walk-in shower and bathrobes. There are separate bathtubs in many of the larger rooms.

Rooms are spacious, starting at 25m² (269 sq ft) and going up to 55m² (592 sq ft) and the signature suites are even larger, ranging from 106m² (1,140 sq ft) to 171m² (1,840 sq ft).

The highlight, however, is The House. This is a massive 346m² (3,724 sq ft) residence on the top floor, which features three bedrooms, a full-size kitchen, a bar, a large dining room, a fitness room and its own private rooftop terrace.

Located on the former trading floor of the stock exchange, the Bull & Bear is the hotel’s restaurant, overseen by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge. The menu features modern British cuisine in an opulent setting, although the atmosphere is dampened by the prominence of big TV screens.

There are also two private dining spaces, the Bank and the Vault, which are also catered by Tom Kerridge.

The hotel has a very central location right in the heart of Manchester’s city centre with many points of interest in the Central Retail District, the Gay Village, the Northern Quarter and Spinningfields within a 10-minute walk.

It is a 10-minute walk to Manchester Victoria railway station and Piccadilly station is around a 15-minute walk away.
