The Strand Hotel, formerly known as the Hilton & Royal Parade Hotel, is a good value hotel by the seaside on Royal Parade near the Redoubt Fortress.
Despite previously being called a Hilton, it is not a particularly nice hotel and it has apparently gone downhill after being taken over by its new owners. The hotel’s facade and reception area look very nice but it starts to look shabby once you get beyond this area.
The 115 guest bedrooms all have comfortable beds, flatscreen televisions, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the hotel.
There is a lift but it is tiny and can only practically carry one person at a time.
The hotel has a bar and a large 220-cover restaurant with lovely sea views. Guests report that the food here is much better than you would expect from a restaurant in a budget hotel.
The hotel gets mixed reviews with some people loving the place and others saying that it is run down and some people commenting that it smells like an old people’s home.
The Strand Hotel is located on Royal Parade on the seafront just a short walk from the Eastbourne Redoubt Fortress and the beach is right across the road. The town centre is a 10-minute walk away, it is an eight-minute walk to the pier and 18 minutes to the railway station.Check prices and availability for The Strand Hotel
