The hotel is set inside a Grade II-listed 12th-century timber-framed building, which has original period features such as medieval windows and exposed beams.

The hotel’s 72 guest rooms all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Two of the rooms are adapted for guests with disabilities.

Rooms are categorised into Comfortable, Desirable, Enviable and Most Enviable plus the Fabulous Suite. The Comfortable and Desirable rooms are the smallest and most basic, but still better than most of Canterbury’s other hotel rooms, while the Enviable and Most Enviable rooms are larger with solid oak floors and extra like bathrobes while the Fabulous Suite has a larger-than-usual bathroom (with separate bathtub and shower), a massive living area and a terrace with views of Canterbury Cathedral.

The hotel has several dining options including the Champagne Bar and the Country Restaurant.

The Country Restaurant is an upmarket place with a modern British menu that is only open for dinner.

Located next to the hotel reception, the ground-floor Champagne Bar is a lovely place with exposed timber beams where you can enjoy lunch, afternoon tea, dinner as well as cocktails and champagne.

Guests also have use of a small fitness centre.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

ABode Canterbury is one of the best-located hotels in Canterbury. It is on High Street in the city centre, right across the street from the Beaney museum and only a one-minute walk to the Eastbridge Hospital of St Thomas and the departure point for river cruises. It is within easy walking distance to most other points of interest in Canterbury and from here it is no more than a 10-minute walk to Canterbury Castle, Canterbury Cathedral, the Roman Museum, St Augustine’s Abbey and Westgate Towers.

Both Canterbury East and Canterbury West railway stations are a 10-minute walk from the ABobe Hotel and it is a seven-minute walk from the bus station.
