Best Western York House Hotel

The hotel has 78 guest rooms. All rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.

Some of the hotel’s larger rooms are quite spacious and these include a large family room that sleeps five as well as double rooms with a large four-poster bed. Many of the rooms offer lovely sea views, although the cheaper rooms face inland.

There is lift access to all floors (except the swimming pool) and two of the guest rooms on the ground floor are adapted for guests who require wheelchair accessible rooms.

The hotel is well maintained and fittings and furnishings are in very good condition.

For the most part, the rooms are nicely decorated and feel warm and inviting although the Verandah Restaurant does feel somewhat bland in comparison. However, the bar area has a little more atmosphere than the restaurant. The restaurant as a menu centred around British and European favourites and it is a nice spot for afternoon tea, particularly if you score one of the tables with a sea view.

The hotel also has three private function rooms that are used for conferences and weddings. There is also an indoor swimming pool.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Your dog can stay with you at the hotel (for a charge of £15 per dog) but not all rooms are dog-friendly so you need to let the hotel know that you’re bringing your dog when you make your booking. Dogs are only allowed in the rooms but not in the restaurant or swimming pool area.

The hotel faces the English Channel on Royal Parade just north of the town centre. It is around a five-minute walk to Eastbourne Pier and the Redoubt Fortress and the Eastbourne Heritage Centre, the Lifeboat Museum and the Towner Art Gallery are all between a 15- and a 20-minute walk from the hotel. It is around a 10-minute walk to the town centre and an 18-minute walk to the railway station.

The hotel does not have its own on-site car park but they do sell parking permits for £1 that let you park on the street up until 11am the following day.
