Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-Avon

Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-Avon is a brilliant accommodation option in a historic Tudor-era building right across the road from Shakespeare’s New Place, the Guild Chapel and Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall.

The 16th-century building was formerly the Falcon Inn, one of the oldest pubs in Stratford, and it also includes accommodation in an 18th-century addition and a more modern annexe. The building features a 500-year-old flagstone floor and wooden panels that originally came from William Shakespeare’s New Place, which is located right across the road.

The hotel has 93 guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a 101cm (40″) flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. Around a third of the rooms are in the older (Tudor and Georgian) areas of the building with the other two-thirds in a modern annexe. Two of the rooms are wheelchair accessible.

The hotel’s Woodsman restaurant is on the ground floor of the old 16th-century part of the hotel and features a menu inspired by modern British and French cuisine with wild game such as partridge, pigeon and venison. The restaurant is an atmospheric space with original exposed timber dating from the building’s Tudor-era origins.

The adjoining Falcon Whiskey & Cocktail Bar is a great spot for a drink with a warm and inviting clubby atmosphere.

The hotel has an on-site fitness centre that is open 6am–10pm daily.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The Hotel Indigo is a great place to stay if you like to stay somewhere with plenty of character but still want the mod-cons that come with a hotel run by a major international chain (it is part of IHG Hotels and Resorts).

The Hotel Indigo is right across the road from Shakespeare’s New Place and the Guild Chapel and Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall are located diagonally across the road. The hotel is located at the southern edge of Stratford’s town centre and most other points of interest in Stratford-upon-Avon are no more than a 7–8-minute walk from here.
