Langham Hotel

The Langham Hotel in Eastbourne is a four-star hotel facing the English Channel that is an elegant place to stay with a very nice restaurant and bar.

The hotel has 77 guest bedrooms, most of which have lovely sea views although some face inland with views of the town and the South Downs. All rooms come with comfortable beds, flatscreen televisions, a small desk, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.

The decor inside the rooms does a great job of highlighting the period features in the Edwardian-era building and includes nicely co-ordinated furnishings and decorative wallpaper that retain a certain degree of contemporary style, although the honeymoon suite and the two four-poster-bedded rooms are not to everyone’s taste.

It is important to note that the Eastbourne Langham Hotel is not part of the Langham hotel chain, however, this doesn’t mean that it is not a good hotel. Like the original Langham hotel in London (which was the first hotel to serve afternoon tea but is not related to this hotel), the Langham in Eastbourne is also noted for its afternoon tea, which is served in the Conservatory Restaurant overlooking the sea.

Breakfast (which is usually included in your room rate) is also served in the Conservatory, as is lunch and dinner. Both lunch and dinner service are based on a prix fixe menu that changes daily and is influenced by traditional British and European cuisine.

Langhams Bar, the in-house bar, has a menu of sandwiches and light meals. It is an elegant place to enjoy a quiet drink and during summer there is additional seating on the sun terrace.

The Langham Hotel is located north of the town centre on Royal Parade facing the seafront. It is just a short walk from the Eastbourne Redoubt Fortress and the beach is right across the road. The town centre is a 10-minute walk away, it is an eight-minute walk to the pier and 18 minutes to the railway station.

Although the hotel has its own car park, parking is limited as there are only eight parking spaces (which cost £9 per night) that need to be reserved in advance.
