St Christopher’s Inn Bath is a more centrally-located accommodation option if you’re a backpacker looking for a hostel in Bath.
It is a relatively small hostel with accommodation in only eight rooms arranged over three floors, which offer a mix of private rooms and shared dormitories. The rooms do not have en suite bathrooms so guests will have to use the shared bathrooms, which have horrible push-button showers.
There is a bar downstairs (Belushi’s), which has a good atmosphere although it is no match for a proper English pub. There is also a small chillout room upstairs, but it is a bit pokey and it seems that the hostel is skimping on common areas forcing guests into the bar to spend any money that had been saved by staying in a hostel over a budget hotel.
There is no kitchen at the hostel, although there is a spot with a fridge and a microwave.
St Christopher’s has a very different vibe to the YHA on Bathwick Hill. It is more centrally located and the atmosphere feels much better when first arrive at the hostel. However, once you’ve checked in and gone to your room upstairs, you’ll notice that parts of the hostel are a bit grungy and could be better maintained.
St Christopher’s Inn Bath has an unbeatable location right in the heart of Bath’s city centre. Bath Abbey, the Assembly Rooms, the Fashion Museum, the Jane Austen Centre, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein, the Museum of Bath Architecture, Pulteney Bridge, the Roman Baths and the Victoria Art Gallery are all within a five-minute walk from here.
