The Bristol

There are over 200 hotels around the world called the Bristol but only one of these is in Bristol. The Bristol offers a high standard of accommodation, which is much nicer than you would expect from its relatively depressing exterior.

The Bristol is a Brutalist concrete building from the 1960s that is characterised by its boxy window frames. It may not look like much from the outside, but the hotel is surprisingly chic once you get inside.

The 187 guest rooms all have comfortable beds with duck down duvets, a work desk, a flatscreen television, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with Temple Spa toiletries. Standard rooms are relatively small at 14m² (150 sq ft) but other rooms are more spacious with 20m² (215 sqft) classic rooms and 23m² (248 sq ft) deluxe rooms. Five of the hotel’s rooms are fully wheelchair accessible.

The hotel’s suites are larger at 44m² (474 sq ft) and feature better amenities plus separate living and sleeping areas.

The ground floor River Grille Restaurant serves modern British cuisine in an elegant space with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer lovely views of the waterfront. The menu features locally sourced seasonal ingredients with a focus on meat cooked on a Josper grill.

The River Lounge is the hotel’s lounge bar, which is a great spot for a drink and afternoon tea is served here daily.

The hotel also has a fitness centre on the fourth floor, which all guests have access to.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The Bristol is on the waterfront south of the Old City and just a one-minute walk from Queen Square. There are several points of interest nearby including Arnolfini, Bristol Aquarium, Bristol Cathedral, M Shed, the Matthew of Bristol and We the Curious, which are all less than a five-minute walk away from the hotel.

The Prince Street Bridge ferry dock is only a two-minute walk away, which means that you can take the ferry here from the railway station.

Although the hotel doesn’t have its own on-site parking, guests can park overnight at a nearby car park for just £9.
