The DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre hotel offers a high standard of accommodation near St Mary Redcliffe Church with easy access to Temple Meads station.
It is a seven-storey brick building but more in the style of a 1960s office block than a Victorian-era warehouse. While the hotel’s exterior is hardly very inviting, it is actually quite nice inside.
The 206 guest rooms are air-conditioned with comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Deluxe rooms are larger and also include a sitting area with a sofa and an espresso machine. Several of the queen rooms are wheelchair accessible.
The hotel’s Kiln Restaurant is a unique space that was originally a 17th-century glass kiln. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner and it serves modern British cuisine.
The Temple Bar & Lounge is a nice spot for a drink and the bar also has a menu of snacks, light meals and desserts.
All guests have access to the hotel’s on-site fitness centre.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
It is located next door to St Mary Redcliffe Church and it is not much more than a five-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station. From here it is around a 10-minute walk into the Old City and a 15-minute walk to Bristol’s main shopping district. It is also not far from the waterfront and there are several tourist attractions nearby including Arnolfini, Bristol Aquarium, Bristol Cathedral, M Shed, the Matthew of Bristol and We The Curious, which are all less than a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel has 150 car parking spaces, which cost £15 per night.
