YHA Bristol is a modern youth hostel in an old brick grain warehouse by the waterfront.
The hostel has 133 beds split between shared dormitories and private rooms. Some of the rooms have en suite bathrooms, although many people staying here have to use shared bathrooms. Like many hostels, towels are not provided unless you’re staying in a private room.
It is a modern hostel with splashes of the YHA’s trademark green in the rooms but the common areas are spared the bright green in preference for a colour scheme that fits in better with the building’s (and the neighbourhood’s) industrial-chic vibe.
The common areas include a TV lounge with lots of board games, a games room with a pool table and table football, a small kitchen and a big dining room.
The hostel’s licensed Grain House cafe near the ground floor reception area serves cakes, coffee as well as pizza, burgers plus beer and wine.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available in the common areas but it does not extend into all the rooms.
YHA Bristol is on the waterfront right next to Arnolfini. It is just a short two-minute walk from Queen Square and less than a 10-minute walk from the city centre. There are several other points of interest nearby including Bristol Aquarium and We the Curious, which are both a three-minute walk away across Pero’s Bridge and Bristol Cathedral, M Shed and the Matthew of Bristol, which are all under a five-minute walk from the hostel. The Prince Street Bridge ferry dock is only a one-minute walk away, which means that you can take the ferry here from the railway station. If you’re travelling by coach, the m1 bus runs from Queen Square to with stops near both the main bus and coach station and it also stops at Cabot Circus near the Megabus stop.
