Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane

The Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane hotel is a modern budget hotel located around midway between the railway station and the city centre.

Rooms at the Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower. Despite being a relatively new hotel, the rooms are not air-conditioned.

This hotel has been recently renovated with Travelodge’s new room design, which means that this hotel offers a superior standard of accommodation when compared with most other Travelodge hotels.

In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine. In many cases, SuperRooms are a big step up from a standard room at a Travelodge, although the new design of standard rooms at this hotel means that the difference is less noticeable here.

This hotel also has its own cafe bar, which has become a much more welcoming space since the recent renovation at this hotel. There are also several other places to eat and drink on nearby Victoria Street.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. In general, this hotel represents good value when compared with hotels closer to the centre of Bristol.

The hotel is located in the Redcliffe neighbourhood, an area southeast of the city centre that includes developments of offices and modern blocks of flats as well as Bristol’s main railway station and St Mary Redcliffe Church.

Bristol Temple Meads railway station is an eight-minute walk from the hotel and it takes around 10 minutes to walk into the city centre. Nearby points of interest include St Mary Redcliffe Church and Queen Square, which are both less than a 10-minute walk away and Arnolfini, Bristol Aquarium, Bristol Cathedral, the Matthew of Bristol, M Shed and We The Curious are all under a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
