Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel

The Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel is a four-star hotel next to College Green and Bristol Cathedral.

The hotel is set inside a former grand hotel that dates from 1868; however, the hotel lacks the ambience that you would normally expect from such a grand building.

The hotel’s 266 guest rooms all have comfortable beds, a writing desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, a small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. Several of the rooms are wheelchair accessible.

The hotel has 25 suites, which offer more space with separate living and sleeping areas.

The hotel’s Miller & Carter Steakhouse restaurant has a menu focused mostly on meat dishes, with very little in the way of vegetarian options (the vegetarian section of the restaurant’s menu includes several chicken and fish dishes). However, you needn’t limit yourself to the hotel’s restaurant as its central location means that there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby including several lovely waterfront restaurants.

The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness centre as well as a business centre with copying and printing facilities.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available in the hotel’s public areas but there is an additional charge for in-room Wi-Fi (£4.99–10.99 per day depending on how fast you need your data).

The hotel has a great location on College Green. It is right next door to Bristol Cathedral and Bristol Aquarium, We The Curious and city centre ferry dock are only a three-minute walk from the hotel. Points of interest within a 10-minute walk from the hotel include Arnolfini, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Cabot Tower, the Georgian House Museum, the Matthew of Bristol, M Shed, Queen Square and the Red Lodge Museum.

Although the Bristol Marriott Royal is farther from the railway station than many other hotels in Bristol (it takes a little longer than 20 minutes to walk here from the station), the hotel’s location just a few minutes’ walk from the City Centre ferry dock means that you can take a ferry here from the station, which is by far one of the nicest ways to arrive at your hotel.

On-site car parking is available but it costs £17 per day.
